This handcrafted natural copper cuff bracelet features the beauty of natural copper combined with a textured pattern with a black patina. I made this cuff starting with a sheet of 20 gauge copper. It is lightweight and easy to wear. To create this modern looking cuff, I first prepared the metal by annealing, cutting, sanding, filing, and polishing the copper. Next I added the texture by running it through a special rolling mill along with a piece of screen. The way I roll the metal through the mill, the design is always slightly random. Therefore, this is a one-of-a-kind cuff, never to be created exactly this way again! To shape the cuff, I placed it on a jeweler’s bracelet mandrel, a steel piece that give the cuff it’s shape. I hammered it with a rawhide hammer, turning it back and forth until the shape was just how I wanted it.
After shaping the cuff I gave the recessed pattern a black patina to make it stand out. Lastly I sprayed it with a permanent, protective matte finish in order to protect the copper from oxidization. Adding this spray also helps prevent your skin from reacting to the copper.
This natural copper cuff is 1″ wide and 6″ long with a 1-1/2″ opening. It can be tightened or loosened by slightly bending it, if needed.
The cuff will have a Solana Kai Designs tag, be wrapped in tissue paper and placed in a complimentary decorative organza drawstring bag, ready to give as a gift to a special someone or yourself!
